Native Animals

what Happens to native animals after a fire?

When there is fire, there are hundreds of animals that pass away, the ones that stay strong, lose their homes, have no food, no water or no place to go. The last bush fire impacted almost all of the wild animals. After there is a fire people who work for animal rescues go on a search to see what animals to they can save. Every animal that they find that are fighting for their lives, they take them back to a shelter and give them a home, food and water.

What happens to native animals when it floods?

Many things happen when there is a flood. Animals lose their homes, joeys get washed away from their mothers, baby birds get washed out of their nest and animals that are living underground like wombats and echidna are likely to drown. People do a lot of things to try and help these animals. Early on in the year, people in NSW have rescued wombats so they didn't drown. There has also been some kangaroos and red necked wallaby joeys that have been orphaned.
